    SEUSSICAL THE MUSICAL
    Produced by Young People’s Theatre

    Theatre For Young Audiences Version
January 14 – 29/12 in the Shoctor Theatre

The world of Dr. Seuss comes alive in this colourful, musical production. Horton has heard a Who, and it’s up to him to protect an entire village from certain doom. Narrated by the Cat in the Hat, a lively cast of memorable characters join Horton on his adventures through the outrageous Seussiverse.

The Red Threat formed in 2009 with an average age of only 18 years old, The Red Threat worked tirelessly to prove that they were musically mature beyond their years. That goal was succeeded with their 3 song debut “A Collaboration of Sharps and Flats” which earned them the opportunities to play both local and touring dates with bands such as Ten Second Epic, Barenaked Ladies, These Kids Wear Crowns, and Living with Lions. With the success of their demo, The Red Threat decided to hit the studio with friend and accomplished engineer Greg Wright to record their debut album “Trees”. The album was released on October 9th, 2010, and was supported by multiple Canadian tours. The tours proved to solidify The Red Threat as one of Canada's up and coming young bands, landing them multiple press opportunities and a showcases in Toronto's International Indie Week Festival, Mazzfest in Saskatoon, and a main stage slot at Boonstock 2011. Their hard work did not go unnoticed, and in May 2011 they signed a licensing deal with IndiePool/EARRS, as well as went on to win the “People’s Choice” award at the 2011 Edmonton Music Awards.

The Red Threat builds their foundation on addictive rock choruses, post-hardcore influenced guitar melodies and above all, passion filled lyrics. With their new album “Trees”, The Red Threat explores the relationship that human beings have with themselves, and the consequences we all share as a result of humanity’s choices. Poised to conquer every venue that comes their way, The Red Threat’s explosive live show and relentlessly determined attitude will continue to fuel their drive to stand among giants.
    *We featured their song Trees.

Trevor Tchir (pronounced cheer) released his fourth album, Sky Locked Land in 2009. Many of Edmonton’s finest musicians are featured on the album, including his brother, Stephen Tchir, Lane Arndt, Jordan Faulds, and Shannon Johnson. It also features long-time friends and collaborators Pierre Chrétien, of Ottawa’s Soul Jazz Orchestra, on organ, and Peter Webb, helping with harmonies. Other contributors include Bramwell Park, Volya Baziuk, Allyson Rogers, Steve Badach, Mickey Vallee, Kristy McKay, and Al Bragg. Sky Locked Land was recorded by Terry Tran at Riverdale Recorders, Edmonton.

Tchir unites the sounds and images of Canada’s rural and urban spaces. Over the past twelve years, he has played his original songs to audiences across the country. His music tells stories of the people who work and love in its pulsing cities and austere hinterlands. In reviewer Mary Christa O’Keefe’s words, "Tchir's lyrics are populated with characters who are both universal and intimate…In Tchir's hands place, time and relationships become characters, too, with their own agendas and idiosyncrasies...His allegiance is to the time-honoured art of evoking emotion through storytelling."

UPCOMING SHOW - Trevor Tchir’s book launch @ the Artery. Saturday, January 7th at 8pm.

*We featured Trevor's song The Sweeter Air.
