Wil’s fourth release, Heart of Mine is an album of personal stories connecting life, love and Wil’s on-going relationship with music. After more then 10 years of touring, Wil has returned to some of the core themes that brought his debut album, Both Hands, into being. He is, however, taking a definite step forward in his growth as a songwriter, singer and musician. Transitioning from the darker imagery and tones of his second album, By December, Wil has found in his third album, a lighter stride. Upcoming show - November 23rd show @ the Museum Theatre  Tickets are $20 in advance, $26 @ the door. E-TICKETS available. *We featured Wil's song Someday.

Grant MacEwan University presents Xanadu
October 21 - 29 in the John L. Haar Theatre
Tickets available through Tix on the Square
A hilarious, roller skating musical adventure. It’s the eighties. Nine muses from the heavens of Mount Olympus spring to life from a Venice Beach art mural depicting 'Ancient Greek arty chicks.' The painter is Sonny, a frustrated artist whose dream is to open a roller disco nightclub called Xanadu.
Xanadu is a goofy, wry riff on art and creativity, bad movies and vacuous stage musicals. It lampoons the wretchedness of '80s pop culture, while simultaneously celebrating the musical pop rock 'cheese' of that era with an insidiously catchy hit score composed by Jeff Lynne of Electric Light Orchestra.

  • Bardic Form on the Shell Theatre's Fort Radio U22 Productions Intermission Stage for Rik Emmett's show on October 28.
Hunger Hush is a band that reaches. The four friends that make up the Calgary, AB based outfit draw from their varied musical backgrounds to grasp at the energy found in their own favourite artists. A careful listener can hear the earthy rock of Attack in Black and the blues-tinged echoes of Warren Zevon – all filtered through ringing keys and driving guitars; trumpet blasts and daring bass lines.
On April 7, 2011, Hunger Hush released their self-titled debut album to a sold-out crowd at Calgary’s Broken City. The album was recorded and produced by Alberta notable Lorrie Matheson in his Arch Audio studios, and the six original songs provide a compelling snapshot of a growing artist with an already distinct voice.
Hunger Hush has enjoyed praise for their live performances, and the band has a dedicated following that is constantly growing. They’ve shared the stage with Daniel Wesley, Hot Panda, The Autumn Portrait and The Magnetic North, among others. Hunger Hush has received local radio attention on CJSW, performed in venues across Alberta, and plans to tour in the fall of 2011.

The real Prairie Belle....

Hello podcast family.

We are really excited to announce the release of Lisa's new record, Prairie Belle. When we started the podcast we struggled to find a name that we thought truly embodied the two of us and our love for the prairies and the arts. At the time, Lisa's song Prairie Belle was written but not recorded yet. Both of us identified with the song and decided to name the podcast after the song. Nearly two years later, Lisa has finally released the record. We are proud to share the name, but want people to know that the song was our original inspiration to name the podcast. Celebrate with us and go visit Lisa's brand new website and have a listen to the title track!

Thank you again for your continuous support of the podcast, and the local arts!

Cheers!
Lisa & Daneel

A notorious homebody, Chad VanGaalen is well known for rarely leaving his rickety house in Calgary, endlessly drawing, recording and making art. With Diaper Island, VanGaalen distills his approach, producing his most sonically cohesive album to date, and the closest thing he has done to a rock album.

Also a celebrated visual artist, VanGaalen is widely renowned for his illustration and animation work. As with his previous albums – Infiniheart, Skelliconnection and the Polaris short-listed Soft Airplane, VanGaalen illustrated all of the art for Diaper Island – and is in the midst of animating a music video as well. He has animated music videos for folks like J Mascis, Guster, and others and his videos have been collectively viewed well over a million times on YouTube. VanGaalen has been quietly building a catalogue of songs that invite listeners to gently explore his distinctive creativity. Diaper Island extends the adventure into deeper territory, tapping into VanGaalen's lifeblood and mining the richness of his mind with sharper tools.

Upcoming Show - November 4th at the Myer Horowitz Theatre 8pm $25.
We featured Chad's song No Panic / No Heat.
